Eden, a 21 year old Belgian footballer has been the biggest signing of the transfer window for the 2012/2013 season. Chelsea's Roman Abromovic lashed out a whopping £32 million for the utility midfielder, and his weekly salary is also no laughing matter either. Poised to be one of the stars of the premier league and the world, does the young talented Eden Hazard have what it takes to stand on stage next to the likes of Messi and Ronaldo ? A question on all football enthusiasts minds I'm sure. Obviously I can't compare him at the moment to the current gods of the footballing world, but is he going to rise to that status in the next 3-5 years. As a Chelsea fan I can only hope for the club, the player and the fans he does.
Hazards game is fancy, he plays with flair and ambition. His pace and dribbling skills are already seen as some of the top in the English game. His blistering runs have already given Chelsea two penalties, both converted by Lampard, showing teams defences are already struggling to contain the young belgian. His quick turns of pace are helping him get down the wing and around players in the midfield with ease. His passes are class and he's feeding Chelsea's now main man Torres allowing him to find the back of the net easier and more frequently.
I feel that there are one or two negatives that surround him as a player though. His size seems to be an issue in the English game, as players are pushing him off the ball with ease, he doesn't have the strength to fend them off it seems, but what he lacks in strength he makes up in skill and pace as I mentioned above. He also has quite a attitude that can work in his favour, promoting confidence and hunger for the spotlight and success. But let's just hope it doesn't go to his head and cause issues within the Chelsea camp. It'll be up to Di Matteo and the senior players to keep him grounded.
He's skilled, he's fast and he's most definitely one for the future. The question is, is the future now ?
